I talked about the upsides of publishing on your personal website yesterday: ownership, SEO, algorithmic immunity & creative freedom.
But the downside is the risk of shouting into the void; of no-one actually discovering your words, as they can more easily on Medium or Substack; products with discoverability built-in.
I consciously left nearly all social media after my experiments in Digital Minimalism, which are currently the most popular writings on this website (here and here).
I’m rejoining with fresh intent. To share pieces of my writings, test out ideas and to connect with other like-minded folks.
But I’m facing the cold start problem on multiple fronts. So please come say hi, follow, like, repost, gasp:
X
and Bluesky for snippets and deep thoughts.- Threads for I don’t know what yet.
- Instagram for pretty pictures.
- LinkedIn for occupational reveries and hot takes.
- Strava for if you also like running & rucking.
Sharing across all these different networks is not sustinable. Right now, I can do it in about 30 minutes per day. But the goal is to find works best and drop the rest.
See you tomorrow.
